Daniel Buren: Daphnis et Chloe

20 May 2014

The new director of the Paris Opera Ballet, Benjamin Millepied, commissioned a set design from Daniel Buren for a production of Daphnis et Chloe, which opened at the Opéra Bastille in Paris on 10 May (until 8 June). The décor consists of huge translucent shapes — a circle, a diamond, a rectangle, a square — that float slowly up and down or across the space, all bordered by Buren's signature stripes.
