Tony Cragg: 'Parts of the World'

18 April 2016

On 19 April 2016, the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal, Germany opens a major exhibition surveying the work of British sculptor Tony Cragg. Spanning three floors of the museum, the exhibition provides an overview of the artist's career, from earlier studies and drawings to recent work created in 2015, bringing together several pieces that have never been seen before.

Tony Cragg is one of the world’s most foremost sculptors. Constantly pushing to find new relations between people and the material world, he works with stone, wood, glass, stainless steel, aluminium, cast bronze and cast iron, as well as found objects, from plastic consumer goods to rubbish from the streets. The retrospective exhibition 'Parts of the World' is particularly important as it takes place in the city where Cragg has lived and worked since the 1970s. Wuppertal is also home to his sculpture park, Waldrieden, which opened in 2008 and houses a steadily growing collection of outdoor sculpture, including several pieces by Cragg.

'Parts of the World' will be accompanied by an exhibition catalogue published by Walther König, with texts by G. Celant, D. Davettas, L. Cooke, U. Wilmes, C. Lampert, P. Schjeldahl, T. McEvilley and G. Finck, J. Wood. More information on Tony Cragg and the exhibition is available here.
